The World Economic Forum: Shaping Global, Regional and Industry Agendas
The World Economic Forum, according to its official website, is "an international organization for public-private cooperation." It's made up of some of the world's top political, business, cultural, and other leaders. Founded in Geneva, the World Economic Forum only allows businesses with annual revenues of at least $1 billion to become members. Membership costs vary, with individual members paying $52,000, enterprises paying $253,000, and strategic partners paying $527,000. Access to the forums is by invitation only, making it a prestigious and exclusive community for high-net-worth individuals.
The idea behind "You will own nothing and you will be happy"
Recently, the World Economic Forum tweeted the statement "You will own nothing and you will be happy." This idea is rooted in the concept of collective ownership, a concept that's been associated with Marxist and communist ideologies. The idea is that the general public should not own anything, and instead, everything should be owned collectively. While this might sound like a noble idea, history has shown us that in practice, some people end up owning everything and it’s those that are in power, which can lead to the masses being controlled by a centralized body.
