According to a Chainalysis study of the 2022 Global Crypto Adoption Index, developing countries are spearheading crypto adoption in the world. Leading the pack is Vietnam. What does this mean for crypto?

This study focuses on the grassroots adoption of cryptocurrency wherein the focus is to highlight the countries where individual, non-professional users are embracing the crypto financial revolution the most. This study does not include institutions or government-mandated initiatives.

The top 5 countries adopting cryptocurrency are the following, in chronological order: Vietnam, Philippines, Ukraine, India, and the United States.

The study showed these two insights clearly:

1.Emerging markets dominate individual adoption

This could be caused by populations turning to crypto to protect the value of their wealth from the rapid fiat volatility or the difficulty of traditional banking itself. It will be very interesting to see how this widespread tech adoption will affect the country’s economy and future.

2.The bear market did NOT win against crypto growth

Before 2022, the bull market was an exciting and amazing timewith Bitcoin reaching an all-time high of over $60k. Despite more sporadic growth in the last year or so, because of the bear market, global adoption is growing rapidly. Historically, after a drop, Bitcoin and crypto continue with slow and steady growth heading into the next bull market.
